Harmony™ SOA Governance

Governance is a key factor to enabling wide-scale success in SOA programs.  The Harmony Governance framework focuses on three primary areas of alignment:

1. Business Alignment & Planning - SOA can, and should, be used as a mechanism to align the needs of the business with I.T. activities and systems. Competing business objectives must be weighed and prioritized to focus SOA efforts on the most valuable initiatives.

2. Design Time Governance - If a service is properly designed, it should be reusable across the enterprise. However, designing for reuse  takes more time and resources.  For this reason, it is necessary to verify that Service Designs were done according to pre-defined policies so that they can be broadly consumed.

3. Provisioning & Run Time Governance - The provisioning and execution of services requires careful consideration. Service Level Agreements and other operational requirements must be defined and managed.
